The Rio Manicoré Common Use Territory (TUC) is a territory of common use self-managed by the traditional communities of the Rio Manicoré, recognized by the Government of the State of Amazonas through a collective Real Right of Use Concession (CDRU). The territory remains a state public area, with the right of collective use guaranteed to the communities that have lived in, cared for, and protected this region for generations.
Currently, a community-based tourism project is under development, along with the construction of structures and community organization initiatives so that, soon, the territory can receive visitors, researchers, and people interested in learning about the culture, traditional ways of life, biodiversity, and landscapes of the Manicoré River in a responsible and sustainable manner.
This project is being developed in partnership between CAARIM, The Nature Conservancy, and IDESAM.
The proposal aims to build a visitation model based on respect for the communities, the forest, and the collective agreements of the territory.
